Autumn at Knock Shrine

Faith Renewal Events

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

The next series of faith renewal events at Knock will begin in February and will offer a variety of events based on art, music, family, parish enrichment and spiritual retreats.

These events are aimed at adults and include a series of one-day retreats and workshops to encourage prayer, deepening of faith and spiritual rejuvenation.

‘Art as a Doorway to the Divine’

Saturday 14th April

Workshop with artist Róisín de Búitléar and poet John F. Deane

Join Róisín de Buitléar as she shares the ideas, design process and development behind her commissioned work ‘Pilgrimage’ for Knock Basilica. The two glazed corridors at the entrance to the Basilica were completed over a two year period, and was a project of collaboration with the Shrine and awared-winning Architects, A&D Wejcherts, Dublin.

Poetry Workshop with John F. Deane

How a poem happens. How a poem works. What is inspiration? How to read a poem. How is it constructed, put together? Language. Imagination. What is the deep value of poetry, especially in a spiritual context? These questions will be addressed.

Using two of his own poems, John F. Deane will illustrate how a poem may be created, read and understood. The workshop will hope to offer new insights into poetry as a whole, inspiration, method, technique and outlook. Participants will be easily encouraged to follow the process into a new awareness of reading and writing poetry, with a special emphasis, in this case, on a poetry of faith.

Time: 11am-4pm
Location: Knock House Hotel
Cost: €30 includes lunch

(Early booking advised)

Jesuit Week / Week of Ignatian Spirituality

23rd – 31st July

‘Your Life, Your Story, Your Pathway to God’

God takes an interest in each one of us, in every life – a personal interest in the ordinary daily realities and in our deepest longings. Each of us has a story to tell and in that story God is present, calling us to listen and learn. Prayer is about listening as well as speaking. It doesn’t do away with the struggles of life, but it helps us to see that the One who created us wants to guide us and to give us courage and a sense of peace. This is what the Jesuit way of prayer is all about.

This week will be facilitated by Eddie Costello & Dermot Mansfield
