Youth Programmes at Knock Shrine

The Youth Ministry Team at Our Lady’s Shrine in Knock aims to bring young people to the Shrine and facilitate them on their faith journey.

A positive experience

The Youth Ministry team in Knock seeks to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to make known the Good News of Christ more fully through worship, service and witness. They aim to give the young people who visit Knock Shrine a positive experience of Knock and more importantly a personal encounter with God. They do this by celebrating the Sacraments, preaching the Gospel, and by giving witness to the living presence of Jesus in our world.

The Youth Ministry team runs programmes throughout the year. From September to May they facilitate school retreats and in July, they open the door of The HUB.

The HUB – Hear, Understand, Believe

The HUB is a vibrant place full of fun, friendship and faith. The HUB offers a kids’ club (for children 5+ years) full of arts and crafts, songs and games all based on the Gospel of the day. It provides a drop-in centre for teens and young adults to pop in for a cuppa and a chat. The HUB also offers a range of summer camps during July and August.

School Retreats (September – May)

Knock Youth Ministry offers a range of retreats for both primary and secondary school students.

Each year thousands of pilgrims come to Knock Shrine on their annual pilgrimages. We want young people to feel a part of these pilgrimages and get involved in their annual pilgrimage to Knock Shrine. Knock Youth Ministry will help you plan and organise a day for the young people you bring. We can provide workshops, organise a story and tour and a trip to Knock Museum.

Youth Leadership Programme

This new programme aims to provide young adults with the opportunity to become passionate and enthusiastic pillars within their communities and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to inspire the next generation within their parish. The programme is open to young people aged between 18 and 30 years and involves 9 weekends over a 2 year period. Participants will be awarded a certificate in Youth Ministry from Queen’s University, Belfast upon completion of the course. The course commences on January 11th 2020.
