Through the anointing, pilgrims in need can experience the gentle healing touch of the Lord. The sacrament is also a time to thank God for good health and to intercede for friends who are ill and for their carers.
The Sacrament of Anointing takes place daily during the pilgrimage season during Mass at 12pm and 3pm.
During the winter season, the Anointing of the Sick takes place on Sunday at 2.30pm in the Basilica followed by Mass.
During weekdays it will take place at the usual time during the 3pm Mass in the Parish Church.
The last Thursday of each month from May to September is a special day for the Sick.
Ceremonies commence at 2 pm with Rosary Procession and the Stations of the Cross. Anointing takes place during concelebrated Mass in the Basilica at 3 pm. This special celebration includes a Eucharistic blessing and Benediction.
