Anointing of the Sick

From its earliest days, Knock has been a place of healing for those who are sick, in mind, body and soul.

The Sacrament of Anointing

Through the anointing, pilgrims in need can experience the gentle healing touch of the Lord. The sacrament is also a time to thank God for good health and to intercede for friends who are ill and for their carers.

The Sacrament of Anointing takes place on weekdays during the pilgrimage season during Mass at 3pm and on Sundays at 2.30pm.

Special Day for the Sick

The last Thursday of each month from May to September is a special day for the Sick.

Ceremonies commence at 2 pm with Rosary Procession and the Stations of the Cross. Anointing takes place during concelebrated Mass in the Basilica at 3 pm. This special celebration includes a Eucharistic blessing and Benediction.
