‘Lady of Knock’ selected as Ireland’s favourite hymn

‘Lady of Knock’ has been selected as Ireland’s favourite hymn at the National Ploughing Championships 2022.

The competition was organised by Kildare & Leighlin Diocese and although there was some tough competition involved, ‘Lady of Knock’ is a much-loved hymn that resonates with people at home and abroad, and has become synonymous with Knock and our unique history.

Written by Dana Rosemary Scallon in 1980, the hymn has been performed countless times here at Knock Shrine during so many important historic Masses and events, including during the visit of Pope Francis to Knock in 2018.

We share with you a beautiful performance of this special hymn on this happy occasion from none other than our own Úna Nolan, Director of Music at Knock Shrine who many of you have the pleasure of hearing each day.

Sincere thanks to the people of Ireland who voted and also to Bishop Denis Nulty and the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin.
