National Grandparents Pilgrimage day, Sunday September 8th 2019

We welcome all families to join us for the  annual National Grandparents’ Pilgrimage takes place at Knock Shrine on Sunday, September 8th 2019. The Catholic Grandparents’ Association was established in 2002 to help grandparents to pass on the faith and to keep prayer at the heart of family life. The Association’s first pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine took place in 2007. Archbishop Michael Neary is patron of the CGA in Ireland.

Chief Celebrants at 3pm Mass in Knock  are Bishop Kevin Doran of Elphin  and Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo.

We are delighted to welcome our guest soloist on the day.  Swinford native, Cathal Gavin will sing ‘Voice of an Angel’. Just 16 years of age, Cathal performed for Holiness Pope Francis at the World Youth Festival in Panama earlier this year. He will be accompanied by the combined choirs of Knock parish who sang so beautifully during our National Novena.

Catherine Wiley who is the founder of the Catholic Grandparents Association will lead the Reflection.
