St. John's Rest and Care Centre

St. John’s Rest and Care Centre is located on the grounds of Knock Shrine, between Knock Basilica and the North Car Park.

A Meeting Place at Knock Shrine

St John’s Rest and Care Centre boasts a large seating and dining area, where pilgrims can rest, relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Knock. It is advisable (especially for large groups) to book the hall in advance, so that adequate seating can be reserved for your group, especially during the peak season.

St John’s Rest and Care Centre is an ideal meeting place, and it is centrally located on the grounds of Knock Shrine.

Golden Years Day Care  for Senior Citizens from local parishes

Golden Years Day Care Group meet every Tuesday and Wednesday in our Centre. We offer a mini bus service to those who require a lift. Day Care is ideal for senior citizens who live alone and who would benefit from some good company, and a nourishing meal. We can accommodate people who have mild mobility issues; however, we do not have any nursing staff working here at the Centre.

We offer tea and a homemade scone on arrival at approximately 10am and our clients enjoy general conversation amongst themselves until 12 noon, when Holy Mass is offered. Afterwards, a three course meal is cooked and served on site. This is followed by gentle exercises, singing/entertaining/poetry recitation and Bingo. Occasionally we host art classes or a fun quiz. Our day concludes at approximately 3 pm.

Our regular clients thoroughly enjoy coming to Day Care and we are delighted that we can offer more people the opportunity to spend time with us.

Mobility Assistance

A free shuttle bus service operates on the grounds of Knock Shrine and pilgrims can avail of this service between St John’s Rest and Day Care Centre, the Chapel of Reconciliation and any other location within the Shrine grounds. This service can be requested at any of the buildings within the grounds – just ask a member of staff who will be happy to assist you.

We have  ten designated disabled parking spaces directly outside our centre. Wheelchair accessible toilets are also available  at the centre. Any pilgrim, who wishes to borrow a wheelchair, may reserve one in advance or request one on the day.
