Knock Counselling Centre is a community based counselling service provided by Knock Shrine and part funded by the child and family agency, TUSLA and is a member of the Association for Agency Based Counselling in Ireland.
Counselling is a talking therapy. Any person can avail of the opportunity to attend to emotional or psychological problems in a supportive and confidential therapeutic environment.
Counsellors offer therapeutic support to people experiencing a wide range of difficulties including: Coping with feelings of anxiety, depression or low self esteem; bereavement issues; issues associated with abuse or neglect; relationship issues; any issues impacting on personal growth and development. Counselling can be described as a process that occurs between two or more people over an agreed period of time. It is based on respect and the belief that we all have the resources to live a fulfilling life. Counselling offers you an opportunity to deepen your understanding of personal distress or confusion, make choices or changes to experience relief from difficult feelings and, ultimately, to live in a more satisfying way.
The Counselling Centre at Knock Shrine has developed a new programme of events for the spring-summer.
The programme offers a varied mix of workshops and information evenings offering help and support to those in difficulty.
The Counselling Centre also runs a ‘Drop-In’ Listening service which is open to anyone who wishes to talk in confidentiality. The Counselling Centre is currently seeking volunteers for the drop-in service.
