Vacancy – Groundskeeper

Knock Shrine is recruiting for Groundskeeper positions.

Job Type: Permanent and Fixed Term Contracts – 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining grounds and site landscaping
  • Maintaining trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, turf and irrigation
  • Fertilising lawn, trees, flowers and shrubs
  • Trimming trees, hedges and shrubs
  • Preventing and eliminating weeds
  • Operating and maintaining hand tools
  • Operating and maintaining trucks and power tools.
  • Keeping grounds free from litter and debris, and bin collection
  • Attend for additional duties during periods of adverse weather conditions

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in grounds maintenance
  • Proficient in using manual and power tools safely (hedge trimmer, strimmer, lawnmower, sweepers etc.)
  • Physical stamina, dexterity and the ability to stand for long periods
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
  • Experienced in utilising insecticides, fertilisers and chemical sprays to treat diseases
  • Free from any allergies that would interfere with Groundskeeper duties
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors to the Shrine grounds
  • English language proficiency
  • Hard-working, meticulous, and patient
  • Full clean manual driving licence as driving our Grounds vehicles onsite will be required

Desirable Requirements

  • Valid tractor driving licence (Category W)
  • Forklift driving experience

Supervisor for Drop-In Service Volunteers

Knock Counselling Centre is a community based counselling service provided by Knock Shrine and the Child and Family Agency Tusla. We provide a single session listening service on Thursday and Friday afternoons and Sundays throughout the pilgrimage season; April to October 2024. We are seeking the services of a Supervisor to facilitate a number of sessions with our Drop-In Service volunteer team. Part-Time Receptionist (Voluntary)

Knock Counselling Centre is a community based counselling service provided by Knock Shrine and the Child and Family Agency Tusla. We are seeking a part-time Receptionist on a voluntary basis to provide general reception assistance at our Sunday Drop-in Listening Service during the pilgrimage season April to October 2024. The main duty of the role would be meeting and greeting visitors to the drop-in service.
