Anointing Of The Sick On World Day Of The Sick On Wednesday, 11 February 2026

World Day Of The Sick Takes Place On Wednesday, February 11th 2026

Anointing of the Sick will take place at the 12pm, 3pm and 7.30pm Masses in the Parish Church

Pope Leo XIV has announced the theme for the 34th World Day of the Sick, to be observed on February 11, 2026: “The compassion of the Samaritan: loving by bearing the pain of the other.”

Centered on the Gospel image of the Good Samaritan, the chosen theme emphasizes a form of love that is expressed through action. By tending to the wounded man left by robbers, the Samaritan becomes a model of genuine care for one’s neighbour. This message underlines that true love requires tangible acts of presence and solidarity, inviting us to share in the suffering of others—particularly the sick, and especially those who also endure poverty, isolation, and loneliness.

Sweet Mother, do not part from me.

Turn not your eyes away from me.

Walk with me at every moment

and never leave me alone.

You who always protect me

as a true Mother,

obtain for me the blessing of the Father,

Son and Holy Spirit.
