OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation Of Adults) Programme

There is a steady interest across the Archdiocese of Tuam from adults seeking to begin or complete their journey of faith within the Catholic Church.

In response to this, we are working to strengthen and support the provision of an OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) programme.

The OCIA programme is intended for:

Any adult who has not yet been baptised and wishes to become Catholic.

Any adult baptised in another recognised Christian Church who now wishes to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Any adult baptised Catholic who has not yet celebrated the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation and now desires to do so.

Fr Shane Costello and Nicola Mitchell are the co-ordinators of this programme for the Diocese. They are currently organising structures and support to assist parishes in accompanying those who come forward.
