Knock Shrine to receive Eco Congregation Ireland Gold Award

Eco-Congregation Ireland (ECI) encourages faith communities of all Christian denominations to take an eco-approach to worship, lifestyle, property and finance management, community outreach and contact with the developing world.

ECI is a project initiated by the Church in Society Forum – a standing committee of the Irish Inter-Church Meeting. The Roman Catholic, Church of Ireland, Presbyterian and Methodist churches are involved as well as the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

Knock Shrine is honoured to be awarded the Eco-Congregation Ireland (ECI) Gold Award for 2026. This award is a high-level environmental recognition given to churches and faith communities that have already earned an initial Eco-Congregation Ireland award.

The ECI Gold Award recognises continuous environmental work across the four core areas of the initial award: Spiritual (linking faith with creation care), Practical (eco-friendly actions on church grounds), Community (engaging locals on environmental issues), and Global (supporting international development or climate justice projects).

The award will be presented at 12pm Mass on Saturday, 31 October 2026.

All are welcome.
