Feast of Saint Joseph, March 20th

Today, Monday 20th March, we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph.

The feast of St Joseph is normally celebrated on March 19th, however this year it has been transferred to March 20 since the liturgy of the Lenten Sundays take precedence.
St Joseph appeared at Our Lady’s side in the Apparition scene at Knock. He is always a quiet but strong presence, a father, a husband and protector.
Devotion to St. Joseph has always emphasised his role as the protector of the Holy Family and he appears at Knock as a secure gentle presence beside his wife, head bowed reverently toward her acknowledging and reminding us of her unique place in the history of the Church.
Last year, Knock Shrine commissioned a new statue of St Joseph which is installed in the Parish Church at St. Joseph’s altar. If you are passing by today, why not call in and say a quiet prayer to him.
Petitions can also be placed online here.
Prayer to St Joseph
Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God.
I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms;
I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls – Pray for me.
