National Mass of Thanks for Donor Week

To mark Organ Donor Awareness Week 2018, a special Mass will be celebrated at Knock Shrine on Sunday 8th of April at 12 noon. This day is being organised in solidarity with those who are waiting for or have received organs and in thanksgiving for those who have donated organs. It is also to remember with love and gratitude all those who died and whose organs were donated by their families following their death.

Giving the gift of life is considered by many to be the ultimate act of kindness, and Organ Donation week is a great opportunity to highlight the phenomenal impact organ donation can have on a person’s life and their families.

Monica Morley, director of the Family Centre at Knock Shrine says  in planning the day , ‘Thousands of lives are touched by organ donors every year. This Mass is a celebration for all who have been saved, and indeed for those whose loved one were organ donors and wish them and their wonderful legacy to be remembered. It is also to give families a chance to be a part of a special and prayerful day, whether it’s to give thanks or to pray for a loved one.
Families will be taking part in the liturgy and it is hoped that it will be a very special and memorable occasion for all. Organ donation cards will be distributed at the end of the Mass along with purple ribbons in memory of all deceased loved ones’.

Those wanting to find out more about the Mass can contact Knock Shrine on (094) 93 75320 or find out more from the Family Centre.
