Hundreds of Young Voices unite for Schools’ Choirs Concert at Knock Basilica
An uplifting evening of music and celebration recently took place at Knock Basilica. Hosanna! Singing in God’s Name was a special schools’ choir performance that brought together hundreds of young singers from across the Western region.
The event was co-ordinated by the Sacred Music Department and the Youth Ministry team at Knock Shrine, alongside the music departments in secondary schools throughout counties Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim. In the months leading up to the event, each participating choir learned the shared repertoire and rehearsed the music in their own schools.
On March 5th, these young students joined together to form one combined choir of more than 300 young voices. Performing a shared repertoire, the singers united in harmony to fill Knock Basilica with music reflecting joy, faith and celebration.
Knock Basilica celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and this special evening was a truly memorable occasion, highlighting the power of music to bring young people together, while celebrating faith through song.
