Witness Walk: Friday, 21st of August 2026 at 6.45pm

The Witness Walk is a quiet, reflective walk through the village of Knock that invites us to follow in the footsteps of those who witnessed the Knock Apparition on the evening of 21st August 1879. The route weaves through the village, stopping at the sites of the homesteads of  several of the fifteen official witnesses.

At each stop along the way, we pause for a short reflection on the person who ran from their home on that wet August evening in 1879 to witness the extraordinary  vision at the gable wall of the parish church. The Witness Walk offers a chance to slow down and connect more personally with the story of Knock and the quiet faith of those who were there. We will then make our way to the old graveyard, where prayers will be offered for the witnesses who are buried there. We will also remember those who are buried elsewhere, including the USA.

The walk will begin at the Chapel of Reconciliation at 6.45pm, will meander through the village of Knock. We will also pause to pray for the repose of the souls of the Witnesses at the old graveyard. We will conclude with a short prayer at the Apparition Chapel, which encloses the gable wall where the Apparition took place.

Please note that this walk will not be livestreamed.
