First Performance of ‘Lady of Knock’ in St. Peter’s Basilica

The iconic Knock hymn ‘ Lady of Knock’ will be performed in St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome for the first time during the Papal Mass on Sunday next. The much loved composition will be sung by Director of Music at Knock Shrine, Úna Nolan and the Knock Basilica Schola Cantorum Basilicae  Choir.  ‘Lady of Knock’ was written by Dana and Damien Scallon and was first released as a single in 1981. The emotional piece has been performed by many renowned International artists, including Frank Patterson, Daniel O’ Donnell, Susan Boyle, John Mc Nicholl and Mayo native, James Kilbane.

In 2017, Úna Nolan performed a beautiful rendition of the song at the Requiem Mass for John Curry, the youngest witness to the Knock Apparition in Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. Over 150 people from Knock will attend historic Mass on Sunday, January 26th for the momentous occasion.
