Pilgrim Statue Returns to Knock

The Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Knock has now returned from Rome and is on permanent display in the sanctuary at Knock Basilica. To mark the 140th anniversary of the Apparition,  this new pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Knock was specially commissioned by Knock Shrine. This beautiful piece was hand carved in Italy by the Stuflesser studio in Ortesei, Italy. In August 2019, the statue was blessed by His Holiness Pope Francis during a public audience in the Vatican, prior to its arrival at Knock Shrine.

In January 2020, Knock Shrine had the privilege of participating in the inaugural Mass of the Sunday of the Word of God in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The Shrine at Knock was selected for this honour as the Word of God is represented at Knock through the appearance of St. John the Evangelist, holding a book of Scripture. The pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Knock was present on the altar throughout the Papal Mass and was venerated by His Holiness.
